Kumamoto Earthquake Update: NTT Com Services Gradually Restored (April 21, 10:00)
TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced today that it is steadily restoring communications services, although some still remain disrupted following the powerful earthquake that hit the Kumamoto region of Japan from April 14, 2016.
Some of the following NTT Com services are still not recovered as of April 21, 10:00am JST, due to outages of electricity, access line or defect in communication facilities.
- OCN Mobile One MVNO service in Aso area of Kumamoto region.
- OCN ISP service in Kumamoto region.
- Enterprise network service in Kumamoto region, including IP –VPN (Arcstar Universal One), leased line (Gigaway) and voice communications (Hikari Line)
Services of other NTT Group companies are also picking up in the Kumamoto region, including NTT West's fixed telephone and optical-fiber access services and NTT DOCOMO's mobile services.
The NTT Group has set up free public phones and mobile base-station vehicles at evacuation centers and other strategic locations, and is offering Disaster Message Board and Disaster Voice Messaging services https://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/
