NTT Communications International Telephone Service
to be Accessible from Mobile Phones
|
NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) today applied to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications for approval to launch an international telephone service that is accessible from mobile phones of NTT Mobile Network, Inc. (popularly known as NTT DoCoMo). The service, which uses the prefix 0033, will begin from November 15 after ministerial approval. Registration is necessary to use the service.
Charges
1) Normal charges
Charges are much cheaper compared to other telecom carriers for a three-minute call during daytime on weekdays, for details please see Attachment 1. Sample rates include 340 yen to the U.S., 520 yen to China, 460 yen to Korea, and 580 yen to the Philippines. For a comparison of charges, please see Attachment 2.
2) Discount charges
To provide reasonable rates, NTT Com has come up with two-types of discount services, one for corporate users and the other for individual users. There is no registration fee or monthly basic charge, but registration is required.
Corporate Discount*1
This discount will be applied to the sum of subscriber telephone charge and mobile phone charge. For example, when a monthly bill totals at least 500,000 yen, the price of a daytime weekday call will be 293 yen to the United States, 447 yen to China, 397 yen to Korea and 501 yen to the Philippines.
Home Discount*2
This discount will apply to international telephone calls placed from either conventional subscriber telephones or mobile phones. For example, if a user makes a three-minute call to the United States between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. weekdays or all day on weekends and holidays, the charge will be 162 yen (54 yen per minute). This is approximately 50% cheaper than other telecom companies.
(Please see Attachment 3.)
Note
*1 Corporate Discount:
The discount rate will automatically increase according to the size of the users monthly phone bill. For example, calls will be discounted 10 percent for bills ranging from 3,000 yen to 30,000 yen, 13 percent on bills more than 30,000 yen to 300,000 yen, and 15 percent for bills more than 300,000 yen.
*2 Home Discount:
Normally, on weekdays, discounts will be provided for late night calls placed from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. but for NTT Coms home discount users, the hours will be lengthened by five hours from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Also, for users whose bills top 1,500 yen, a five percent discount will be applied to daytime and evening use and 10% for late night use.
