NTT Communications and Verio to Provide Web Hosting using
“the World’s Most Favored Platform” of Verio

 

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that it has reached a basic agreement with Verio Inc.*1 to jointly provide web site outsourcing services. Based on the agreement, NTT Com plans to provide web hosting services*2 using the Verio platform in Japan from next spring.


Web Site Outsourcing

Since April this year, NTT Com has integrated corporate network services and system establishment and operation services into its Value Chain Network (VCN)*3, as well as enriched its service lineup for corporate users. Such services are provided to corporate customers who wish to improve their business process (value chain).

The web site outsourcing business, which is part of the VCN solution, will restructure corporate network systems. The service not only maintains, operates and manages web sites, it also advises customers how to make the best use of their web sites.


Tie-up with Verio

With 265,000 hosted Web sites, Verio is currently the world’s largest provider of domain-based*4 web hosting services. It has secured the top spot by meeting its customers’ needs in superior ways.
Verio’s web hosting service not only boasts high-reliability (server availability: 99.9%) for managing and operating servers, it also allows customers to use various platform applications for electronic commerce, data base and security.

NTT Com holds Verio’s stake and both companies jointly provide the Arcstar Internet service in the United States. NTT Com decided to use the globally popular Verio platform as part of its ongoing efforts to expand services for establishing and supporting web sites.

Verio will provide NTT Com with software and technology related to web hosting and will upgrade software as needed.

NTT Com and Verio are considering further stage of tie-up concerning web site outsourcing business.

Services for managing a customer’s web site, including locating the site within a joint server and operating and maintaining the site. It also includes leasing servers to customers.

A new NTT Com information network service designed to help companies streamline and restructure their entire “chain” of operations from material procurement through production, distribution and sales. The service supports the establishment of corporate information systems by integration hosting, security and outsourcing via networks.

• Hosting service that enables opening of servers and homepages without technical know-how
• Security service that prevents leaking of data and illegal access
• Outsourcing service that lessens the customer burden on network operation

*4 Domain
