TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today the immediate launch of Giga Stream Premium Ether to provide bandwidth-guarantee service level agreements (SLAs) and other upgrades for "Giga Stream" real private networks.
NTT Com expects the service to be a well-received solution among corporate customers burdened with high-volume network traffic, as well as companies that need to ensure the continuity of their network-based businesses at all times.
The guaranteed bandwidth SLA, believed to be first for corporate users in Japan, guarantees 1 Gbps bandwidth in a high-quality, high-reliability network environment.
In the case of a claim, NTT Com uses the full network to measure actual throughput. If bandwidth is confirmed to be less than the contracted bandwidth, compensation is calculated according to the length of time between confirmation and restoration of service.
Giga Stream Premium Ether also incorporates Ethernet Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) measures to offer enhanced serviceability and other upgrades, including endpoint-to-endpoint connectivity verification, fault isolation and line tests. The service also offers proactive responses to potential problems. In addition, optional billing plans offer charge structures that are unified on a prefectural, regional or national basis, making cost calculations easy for customers.
As with other Giga Stream services, Giga Stream Premium Ether uses Multi Protocol Label Switching Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) to guarantee 99.999% network access. SLAs covering delay of provision, failure recovery, failure notification and duplicate failures are also available.
Looking ahead, NTT Com plans to expand service availability and also raise guaranteed bandwidth to 100 Mbps, 10Mbps and later 1 Mbps.
