- Begins Joint Operation of UEFA’s Japanese Website -

TOKYO, JAPAN-NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that it has reached an agreement with Union des Associations Européennes de Football (UEFA) to be an official sponsor of the 2004 UEFA European Football Championship™ (UEFA EURO 2004™), which will take place in Portugal from June 12 to July 4, 2004. The company also announced that together with UEFA, it has established and begun operating UEFA’s official Japanese website at jp.uefa.com.

Under the sponsorship agreement, NTT Com will establish and operate web servers and provide hosting solutions for euro2004.com, a website dedicated to UEFA EURO 2004™. The site is expected to attract very heavy traffic as people around the world access its audio and video content during the championship. NTT Com is honored that the UEFA has recognized the reliability of its NTT/VERIO Global IP Network, enterprise hosting and cutting-edge data delivery technology.

UEFA’s international website (www.uefa.com) is Europe’s largest soccer portal, boasting 4 million hits per day. For the new Japanese website, NTT Com is providing the web servers and ongoing hosting. Currently, all content can be viewed for free, but NTT Com plans eventually to offer fee-based content, as well as construct a portal for i-mode users.

The company’s close co-operation with UEFA goes back to NTT Com’s co-sponsorship of the UEFA Cup Final in 2002 & 2003 and UEFA Super Cup final from 2001 to 2003. NTT Com’s wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary Verio has been hosting the UEFA’s international website (www.uefa.com) since 2001. Today’s announcement represents a further strengthening of these ties, as well as a highly visible demonstration of the reliability of NTT/VERIO products and services.
