FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NTT Communications to Launch
NTT Com/Verio Global Tier 1 Network in Singapore

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), and StarHub, Singapore's info-communications operator and an affiliated company of NTT Com, today announced a Memorandum Of Understanding for their alliance in the IP backbone network business. This alliance will see the integration of the StarHub IX* network, the Internet exchange facility of StarHub, with NTT Com/Verio’s Global Tier 1 Network.

About the Network Merger

StarHub will merge its StarHub IX Network to NTT Com/Verio’s Global Tier 1 Network to offer a high quality and high-speed IP transit service in Singapore and its neighboring countries.

Once integrated, StarHub IX will be the first local IX (Internet Exchange) to seamlessly connect Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific via a Tier 1 Global Internet Backbone Network. Positioned at the top of the Internet network hierarchy, a Tier 1 Network is capable of providing the best Internet connectivity with minimum delay and maximum-security features.

This alliance with StarHub will not only give NTT Com the power to expand its business foothold in the South East Asian region, but will also offer customers of NTT Com’s Group companies the facility to transmit mission-critical data across a global Internet backbone and a uniform level of quality and services.

NTT Com/Verio Global Tier 1 Network

NTT Com has been offering global IP transit services to ISPs for more than three years. Last year NTT Com acquired Verio, a U.S.-based Tier 1 IP services provider and the world’s largest Web hosting company, and integrated the two companies’ global IP backbone networks. Through this merger, NTT Com and Verio have agreed to integrate their respective IP backbone networks to form a single AS Global Tier 1 Internet Protocol (IP) Backbone Network. This NTT Com/Verio Global Tier 1 Network covers Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific and has been offering global transit service with its affiliated companies and partners in Hong Kong, Australia and Taiwan since Spring 2001. NTT Com is also planning to expand to other areas depending on customer demand.
