FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
NTT Communications Clearinghouse to promote "ePBX Package" to Corporate Users Package to be offered in alliance with Hitachi, Fujitsu I Networks, and World Axle
|
NTT Worldwide Telecommunications Corporation (NTT-WT), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), announced today that it will begin the provisioning of Clearinghouse ePBX Package (ePBX Package) from January 23. NTT-WT launched the ePBX Package in order to promote its IP telephony*1 service, the NTT Communications Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse)*2 to corporate users.
As part of the business, NTT-WT is putting in place partnership agreements with Hitachi, Ltd., Fujitsu I-Network Systems Limited, and World Axle Corporation (NTT Com's "ePBX partners").
Outline
The Clearinghouse, launched January 2000, is an IP telephony service that realizes voice and facsimile communications to worldwide at reasonable cost. The ePBX Package combines the Clearinghouse with installation and maintenance of VoIP gateway and will be provided solely by ePBX Partners. Corporate users can make use of the Clearinghouse promptly and easily.
Service Features
1. Allows use of existing equipment
This ePBX Package enables cost reduction of global voice and facsimile communications based on IP telephony with utilization of existing telecom equipment, such as a PBX. By connecting the VoIP Gateway to the PBX, the PBX can be connected directly to the Clearinghouse via an IP network, thereby eliminating large-scale modifications in the existing PBX.
2. Allows global communication using IP telephony
IP telephony for corporate users has traditionally been limited to internal communications within a private corporate network (on-net communications). The Clearinghouse service, however, allows not only for on-net communications, but also seamless off-net domestic/international communications via the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)(see Attachment 2).
ePBX Partners
The initial ePBX Partners - Hitachi, Fujitsu I-Network Systems, and World Axle - will market the ePBX Package to their existing PBX customers. In addition, the ePBX Partners will also handle VoIP gateway installation and maintenance.
NTT-WT will put in place a partnership agreement with these three companies and will also promote agreements with other PBX vendors for further support of the ePBX Package.
The ePBX Package uses U.S.-based Clarent Corporation's IP communications products for its clearinghouse solution.
NTT-WT will join hands with Hitachi, Fujitsu I-Network, World Axle, and Clarent to continue to increase the number of IP telephony solutions offered to corporate users that take advantage of NTT Communications' Clearinghouse.
