Takamatsu 2 Data Center Virtual Tour

Takamatsu 2 Data Center in Kagawa prefecture is located at southern Japan, Shikoku District.Easy access from Tokyo (approx. 100min by air).
The Data Center is located on a hill and away from coast, so there is no impact of tsunami that will occur by predicted Nankai Trough earthquake in the area, unlikely to have liquefaction damage as well.
The best location for Disaster Recovery site, as Takamatsu has historically small risk of earthquake, tsunami and natural disasters.
There are solar panels on rooftop of data center building. The generated power is using for lighting and so on.

Takamatsu 2 Data Center requires entry application through website beforehand.
Admission IC card is issued after the identification check at reception. Bringing in hazardous object or information medium are prohibited.

RECEPTION
The reception is manned 24/7.

Visual checking of belongings is conducted before walk through the security gate.
Walk through metal detector which is strictly monitoring hardware or USB memories first, and pass through security gate verifying admission IC card.

SECURITY GATE
Customers go through the gate by using IC card after passing metal detector.

Indoor all-weather loading bay for one four-ton track is available for carry in/out by vehicle.
Ensure security closing the entrance shutter.

One freight elevator and one passenger elevator are available. Able to carry in/out large equipment.

To enter the front room of server room, admission IC card verification is required.
Anti-tailgating system prevents unauthorized entry. Customer must go into the front room one by one.

FINGER VEIN AUTHENTICATION DEVICE
For server room entry, biometric system (palm vein authentication) authorization is required in addition to admission IC card to ensure the high security.

In server rooms, "cold aisle containment" which utilizes cold air effectively is adopted as standard for high-density power use.
All power cables and network cables are laid above racks and lead into each racks.

GAS FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
Early warning smoke detection system and Nitrogen gas fire suppression system are installed in server rooms.

STANDARD RACK
Loading capacity of standard rack is 1000 kg (Unit : 46 U), which is heavier compare to the other data centers' specification. Achieved high-power supply, maximum 14 kVA per rack.

Diverse routes from north and south by different carriers assure the redundancy of network.

Cold air is blasted from under the floor and drawn into rack front.
Heat from ICT equipment is exhausted from back side of the rack and return to air conditioning unit on the downstairs. Deploying Free cooling system for Green.
Air-conditioning of Takamatsu 2 Data Center is covered by Free cooling system approximately 63% a year.

CASCADE AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM
Takamatsu 2 Data Center is deploying "Cascade Air-conditioning system" for high-density power use.
Achieving equal cooling to all racks to store cold air under the server rooms floor and blow it into server rooms.

At Takamatsu 2 Data Center, air-cooling system and water-cooling system are adopted.
Moduled chiller for air-cooling and cooling tower of centrifugal chiller for water-cooling are installed on the rooftop.
Even if the centrifugal chiller has been stopped, air conditioner for server rooms keeps on working due to the moduled air-cooling chiller has 100% capacity to cool whole server rooms.

UPS room is located at just beneath the server room and blowing cold air from the ceiling of UPS room.
UPS has N+2 redundant configuration. Dedicated UPS only for air-cooling system is also available that allow non-stop operation even during power outage.
For reliable power receiving, adopting one active/one passive path and receiving power from two different utility substations. The nearest substation is proximity to the data center.

Generator has N+1 redundant configuration. Operation time without refueling is 72 hours.
After 72 hours, stable power supply is promised by Prioritized fuel supply contract with multiple companies.

Takamatsu 2 Data Center adopts the seismically isolated structure which is able to withstand an earthquake of (Japanese Scale) intensity level 7 (the level of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake in 2011).
Laminated rubber shoe, Laminated rubber shoe with lead plug, Cross linear bearing and Oil damper reduce at most 80% of the impact on the building to suppress equipment malfunction.

LAMINATED RUBBER SHOE
Shoe supports the building and prevents seismic shaking from being transmitted.

SLIDING ELASTIC SUPPORT BOARD
Reducing acceleration and supports building.

OIL DAMPER
Damper absorbs and reduces seismic shaking.

No-charge break space for customer is available. For eating/drinking, customer can use cafeteria.
Vending machines for drinks/snacks are available. Wi-Fi internet connection is also equipped.

SHOWER ROOMS
Takamatsu 2 Data Center has shower room and nap room (equipped sofa beds) for customer.
Customer can take a break/rest even during long shift.

RECLINING CHAIR
Reclining chair and TV are also equipped.

MEETING ROOM
Takamatsu 2 Data Center has meeting room.

Data center operation staff is monitoring customer's system and equipment 24/7.
Also monitoring rack key management and temperature/power current of each rack.

Work room is available for setting up servers.
