TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today the launch of a wireless local area network (WLAN) international roaming service via access points operated by China Mobile Communications Corporation (China Mobile) in the People’s Republic of China beginning January 1, 2009.
Subscribers to NTT Com’s HOTSPOT, OPEN Plan or OPEN Plan Light WLAN service will be able to log into China Mobile’s WLAN using their existing user IDs and passwords at more than 800 access points in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao (Shandong Province), and Qinhuangdao (Hebei Province), including Beijing Capital International and Qinhuangdao airports.
The new roaming service does not require a separate subscription or startup fee. Roaming via the China Mobile access points will cost 25 yen per minute (tax exempt). As a special introductory offer, roaming will be free until January 31, 2009.
