NTT Com Starts Upgrading HOTSPOT™ Areas in Narita Airport

TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications (NTT Com) started today upgrading service specifications at 76 HOTSPOT™ wireless LAN access points at Narita International Airport to make them more compatible with those of other HOTSPOT service points around the country.

Compared to HOTSPOT service points in other areas, those at the airport have used different security levels and ESS-ID names, which identify specific wireless service. They also have not been compatible with 1DAY PASSPORT, NTT Com’s single-day prepaid wireless LAN service.

The upgrading, in addition to eliminating these discrepancies, will also enable 1DAY PASSPORT customers, including temporary users from overseas, to enjoy wireless internet access at the airport. All access points in Narita Airport will be upgraded by January 2008.

Existing customers of HOTSPOT, OPEN Plan and OPEN Plan Light will be able to continue using the access points at Narita Airport. No additional fee will be required.

Until all 76 access points are upgraded, HOTSPOT NRT AirportNet roaming, a legacy service, is also available to existing subscribers.
