NTT Com Launches Security Log Management Services

TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) today launched a package of security-log management services covering the monitoring, operation and management of security-related equipment of global corporate customers using Arcstar™ IP-VPN or Group-VPN, two of NTT Com’s integrated virtual private network (VPN) services.

The package is the first in a series of new security services to be offered on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform managed by world-class security experts at NTT Com’s Security Operation Center. The center will help customers to strengthen their secure intranets for better IT governance, as well as save security costs through outsourcing.

The basic services of the package include 24/7 alive monitoring, the generation and storage of security logs, analysis and statistical reporting based on these logs, and 24/7 customer support. The security data are collected via a closed network in a secure environment, and then the logs are securely stored in NTT Com data centers.

Optional services include real-time notification of hazardous events, rental of security equipment and a service package covering the total operation of equipment.

The services are expected to meet the growing needs for security log management as companies strengthen their compliance measures, particularly in response to the Japanese version of the U.S. Sarbanes-Oxley Act requiring companies to report on their internal controls.

Installation costs from about 170,000 yen and the monthly fee runs from about 60,000 yen per unified threat management (UTM) device.

NTT Com plans to incorporate customer feedback in its development of additional services for vulnerability diagnosis, countermeasures for unauthorized access and viruses/worms, and compatibility with a wider range of customer security equipment.
