MobileConnect Remote Access Adds PC Authentication

TOKYO, JAPAN -- NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) today announced it has enhanced the security of its MobileConnect remote Internet access service for enterprises with the addition of PC authentication, beginning today.

Until now, the service has offered basic authentication and Mobile Connect One-Time Password (MCOP) authentication based on proprietary technology. With the addition of seamless, MAC address-based PC authentication, however, MobileConnect users can now choose and combine among these authentication methods according to their corporate security needs.

The enhanced security enables NTT Com to help its enterprise customers better address increasing Internet security risks, as well as the growing need for remote access to corporate intranets.

The monthly fee for MobileConnect authentication depends on the number of IDs and methods required by the customer. For example, the monthly fee would be 357,000 yen (including tax) for 1,000 IDs and PC authentication (the MobileConnect basic fee and SSL-VPN access charges are separate).

In the future, NTT Com is considering the addition of other security methods, including biometric, risk-based, Public Key Infrastructure, network and quarantine authentication.
