NTT Com Named Best Wholesale Carrier at Telecom Asia Awards 2008

TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications (NTT Com) was honored as the Best Wholesale Carrier at Telecom Asia Awards 2008 in Phuket, Thailand on April 8.

The awards program, which is organized by Telecom Asia Group, recognizes Asia's most outstanding telecommunication carriers and vendors.

NTT Com was singled out for its Global IP Network Service, Asia's only global Tier 1*1 Internet backbone and boasting the largest network capacity in the region. The network features a completely redundant structure and operates under a single Autonomous System (AS*2), guaranteeing seamless connection with optimal peering and routing. NTT Com also was cited for services incorporating IPv6 and advanced security technologies.

Telecom Asia Awards were presented in 11 sectors this year. Judges appointed by Telecom Asia Group based their decisions in part by referring to reports from top telecom research firms, such as Ovum. Judging criteria included areas such as market leadership, introduction of new technologies, financial performance and corporate governance.

NTT Com previously was awarded as Best Asian Telecom Carrier at Telecom Asia Awards 2005.

*1 Tier1: An ISP operating a global broadband IP backbone which uses peering
relationships exclusively to acquire and forward traffic. A Tier1 ISP does
not depend on any other ISP as a last-report destination for any traffic.

*2 AS: An IP network operated and managed in accordance with a single
predefined routing policy. The Internet is composed of many autonomous
systems.
