NTT Com to Offer Japan's First Arcstar IP-VPN compatible IPv6 Service on Trial Basis

TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced today Japan's first Arcstar IP-VPN compatible IPv6 service on a trial basis ,to be run from September 18, 2007 to August 31, 2008.

The participants will be able to use the trial's closed IP network to conduct feasibility tests of IPv6 network devices and applications, which are expected to have huge market potential as the Internet transitions from IPv4 (Internet Protocol Version 4) to IPv6. IPv6 will solve a number of problems inherent to IPv4, including limited range for IP addresses, security breaches and insufficient routing and real-time communication functions.

Trial participants must pay 500,000 yen (as well as contract and network installation fees), and must be a corporate customer based in Japan. They also will be asked to provide NTT Com with feedback about the trial.

NTT Com will select several participants based on its review of candidate applications, which may be submitted through the company's regular NTT Com sales contact or the company's toll-free phone number for VPN (0120-105-100). Applications will be accepted from September 18 to December 20.

NTT Com plans to offer a IPv6/IPv4 dual service enabling one circuit to handle both IPv6 and IPv4 protocols on a commercial basis within fiscal 2008.
