NTT Com to Extend Global IP-VPN Service to Melbourne

TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced today that the company will establish a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) node in Melbourne, Australia, for the purpose of launching NTT Com Arcstar Global IP-VPN service on May 7, 2007.

NTT Com has been providing global IP-VPN service in Australia since the launch of its first MPLS node in Sydney in May 2001. The carrier will be the first from Japan to offer the service in Melbourne, enhancing its support to Japanese and other multinational companies in need of a single source for economical, secure and high-quality communications solutions.

With its new Arcstar Global IP-VPN service in Melbourne, NTT Com will cover Australia's two largest business centers. The nation is attracting U.S., European and, more recently, Asian companies seeking to take advantage of its multicultural human resource and other benefits by establishing regional headquarters and call centers, a development that is raising demand for stable IP-VPN services. Gartner forecasts a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.6% for international MPLS-based IP-VPN services in Australia between 2005 and 2010*.
