NTT Com announced that it will begin strengthening the anti-spam measures employed by OCN, its Internet Service Provider business, by extending Outbound Port 25 Blocking (OP25B) to all OCN service users using other companies’ e-mail servers. In an effort to fight spam, NTT Com in November 2005 introduced OP25B for outbound e-mails sent to mobile e-mail users. The expanded OP25B service restricts all e-mail traffic coming through the TCP25 port directly from PCs and e-mail servers via dynamic IP addresses, thereby blocking mail from spammers and dramatically reducing the risk of OCN users’ PCs being contaminated by virus attacks. Users relying on OCN e-mail servers will not be affected by this move.
