NTT Com’s New Flat Rate Plan Lifts Limit on SMS Service to China

Beginning February 1, NTT Com will upgrade its “Mail-Tsu” SMS service for exchange of phone text messages between Japan and China, allowing users unlimited SMS text-messaging, up from only 20 messages at present. The service allows users to send SMS messages from their mobile phones in Japan to mobile phones based in China without any garbled text, as a result of an automatic conversion system for Chinese and Japanese characters.

The upgraded service will start on the Chinese information site “Café China” of NTT DoCoMo’s i-mode® official sites. NTT Com also plans to expand the service to KDDI’s EZweb and SoftBank’s Yahoo! Keitai.
