New Service in China to Help Prevent Internal Info Leaks

TOKYO, JAPAN – NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that the company will offer a security service in China to help corporate customers prevent leaks of internal information, beginning March 17, 2006.

The new service, which will be offered alongside NTT Com's existing server-monitoring/maintenance and antivirus services in China, will respond to the growing problem of information leaks at the Asian operations bases of multinational companies. The service is compatible with Japanese-, English-, Chinese- and Korean-language operating systems, and German and Spanish will be added in the future.

NTT Com will ensure compliance with the customer's security policy through the monitoring of networks and employee PCs and the generation of event logs. In addition, the logs are carefully analyzed and a monthly report is provided to the customer. Customization enables the customer to specify how to monitor and manage information, for example, in terms of how to manage event logs and whether or not to include specific external devices and software applications.

In addition, automatic pop-up warnings to employees who breach the company's security policy and other service features help to raise employee awareness of security policies and thereby prevent accidental leaks of information.

Customers are not required to maintain their own servers or related facilities to use the service, and the initial startup cost can run as low as 3 million yen. Startup is fast, since the customer is only required to set their security policy and provide information about the PCs in its network. Actual installation of the service can be accomplished with just several clicks on a computer. Monthly operating fees start from 300,000 yen. Systems updates are provided free of charge and performed at the customer's premises by NTT Com technicians. Technicians are also dispatched to the customer's premises in the event of system failures and related emergencies.

The service already launched in Japan last October, NTT Com plans to expand it to other Asian countries and North America as well as Europe, enabling customers to enjoy seamless security among countries where the service is available.
