NTT Com to Enhance Phone Conference Service in Kansai Area
|
TOKYO, JAPAN NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced today that it will add backup facilities and access points in the Kansai area to ensure continuity of its next-generation phone conference service, ClearConference, in case of a disaster in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The additions will be completed by September 22.
ClearConference began in January 2002 and is now widely used by multinational companies, manufacturers, distribution companies and IT enterprises. With the additions, customers will be able to use ClearConference even if Tokyo telephone networks are flooded with calls following a disaster. Customers in the Kansai area will only have to pay inexpensive local phone rates to access the ClearConference system.
In addition, both the voice guidance function and security will be enhanced from the beginning of October. Customers will be able to record original voice messages so conference participants can easily recognize which meeting they have entered.
Security will be strengthened by requiring participants to enter a conference ID, conference password and a unique password, which are cross-referenced with pre-stored data in the system. The current version shows only participants phone numbers (if applicable) in the display, while the future version will give more detailed information on participants.
