NTT Communications Tops in Asia-Pacific User Survey and
in "Leader" Quadrant for Asia-Pac Region

TOKYO, JAPAN — NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) won first place in the categories of International Frame Relay, International ATM and International IP-VPN in this year's annual user survey of Asia-Pacific data communication service users.

The User Survey: International Telecom Service, Asia/Pacific*1, 2004 was conducted in October by Gartner, Inc., a leading provider of research and analysis regarding global information technology.

NTT Com also placed a close second in the category of International Leased Lines.

Gartner received answers from 169 network managers out of 400 multinational corporations operating in the Asia-Pacific region, who were asked to evaluate the services they use in terms of reliability, performance, support, repairs, range of options, and pricing. A total of 18 providers were evaluated for international frame relay services, 17 for international ATM services and 18 for international IP-VPN services.

In a separate development, NTT Com was placed in the leader quadrant in the Asia-Pac NSP Magic Quadrant*2 report, which was released by Gartner on November 4, 2004. The Magic Quadrant is Gartner's proprietary graphical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period that is used to compare the capabilities of Asia-Pacific based telecom operators.

Gartner defines leaders as vendors who perform well, have a clear vision of their market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leading positions in the market. Following an evaluation of 14 Asia-Pacific network service providers, NTT Com was placed in the leader quadrant on the basis of the completeness of its vision and its business execution ability. This is the second year that NTT Com has been placed in the leader quadrant.

"We are especially proud that NTT Communications has the highest position on execution," said Kimio Tamura, Vice President of Global Services Business Division for NTT Communications. "As noted in the report, network service providers in the Asia-Pacific region face greater challenges in terms of implementing their vision as compared with their counterparts in North America and Europe. Our top mark in this category is a significant achievement that reflects our total commitment to service quality. "
