NTT Communications to begin international IP-VPN service in Shanghai – Data Center Service Capabilities to be strengthened

Tokyo, Japan NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that it is cooperating with China Telecommunications Corporation (CT) to expand its IP-VPN (MPLS Type) coverage to Shanghai beginning this March.

The expansion will complement NTT Com's existing Beijing service in mainland China, where the service has been offered since March 2002 and will reinforce its service capabilities in eastern China. By connecting with CT's network, NTT Com will be able to provide its customers with more cost-effective and the best overall quality IP-VPN service.

In addition, NTT Com will establish the first around-the-clock, on-site support in Shanghai on April 1, 2004 that will be staffed by engineers stationed at the Data Center, which has operated since January 2002. This will help reinforce monitoring and on-site maintenance service for servers and other customer equipment. A 24-hour help desk service will also be available throughout the year to offer multilingual assistance in English, Chinese and Japanese. This will provide an unprecedented support service for quick turnarounds when handling local customer inquiries.

Through these activities, NTT Com will be able to offer global multinational corporations more cost -effective and higher-quality services in Shanghai and outlying areas, which are considered the most important business activity centers in Mainland China.

NTT Com's offices in Mainland China are presently located in Dalian, Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. NTT Com offers one of the most comprehensive service operation systems among foreign carriers in China, providing customer support that includes customer system implementation assistance and on-site maintenance. NTT Com has handled more than 1,300 network integration (NI) and system integration (SI) service projects in China. Through these initiatives and their successful results, NTT Com looks forward to meeting the challenge of fulfilling the high expectations of an ever-increasing number of customers in China.
