NTT Communications and EDS Announce Strategic Business Relationship

TOKYO, JAPAN—NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) and EDS today announced a business alliance agreement aimed at offering IT and communications services to businesses in Japan and across the globe.

Based on this agreement, the companies will collaborate on a range of services including data centre, co-location, hosting and communications. The two companies have formed teams to evaluate industry segments and develop joint go-to-market offerings based on each company's strengths and the value to specific markets.

The companies will leverage each other's core strengths and provide services to one another and their respective affiliates. One example involves EDS working with A.T. Kearney, EDS' high-value consulting line of business, to provide consulting services to ITMS (IT Management Services) of NTT Com. This engagement will enable NTT Com to expand its ITMS capability including operations and process optimization while minimizing costs. In addition, EDS will leverage NTT Com capabilities and is currently in discussions to provide a unique set of services that only this strategic relationship can provide to EDS customers.

"NTT Com has just announced its new business vision that we are to be the Global IP Solution Company," said Masanobu Suzuki, president and CEO, NTT Com. "Today, we are very much pleased to welcome EDS, the world's leading independent provider of IT services, as our strong partner to realize our vision. With its strong brand and excellent service delivery capabilities, we do believe we can enhance our global IP solution service capability and accelerate to achieve our goal."

Doug Frederick, executive vice president, EDS, said, "We are delighted with the opportunity to work in close collaboration with NTT Com because it gives us the ability to respond to customers who require services or solutions this relationship provides. EDS is committed to helping our clients succeed and this relationship is an opportunity to further build our presence in the Japanese market with a world-class leader."
