NTT Communications Teams Up with Korea Telecom to
Expand Arcstar Global Service Area
|
NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) will begin offering its Arcstar Full Channel high-speed digital leased circuit service between Japan and South Korea in partnership with Korea Telecom (KT) starting on August 28, according to a contract signed by both firms today.
The two companies first signed a comprehensive business agreement in December 1999. Since June 2000, KT has been providing and marketing the NTT Com Group's Arcstar global services in South Korea. Arcstar Full Channel Service, which provides high quality and affordable end-to-end leased circuit service, will now be available between Japan and South Korea. It is currently offered between Japan and the United States.
Accordingly, NTT Com's U.S. subsidiary, NTT America (NTT-A), and KT signed a contract regarding provision of Arcstar's global network services between South Korea and the United States via direct connection.
This contract is part of an effort by NTT-A to enhance its Arcstar global network service area by connecting the United States directly with major Asian countries. NTT-A intends to expand the network even further in the future.
