NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that it will modify the companys structure from April 1 to facilitate its transition to a global IP company (
see Attachment 1). The new structure will better clarify core products, strengthen value chains and promote greater flexibility. The changes include new job descriptions for some of the companys Directors (
see Attachment 2).
The announced structure includes four new business units.
Global IP Business Division
The Global IP Business Division will promote joint operations with Verio Inc., the U.S.-based Internet solutions provider that NTT Com acquired last September, as well as strengthen NTT Coms global IP network as a Tier 1 network. The division will provide comprehensive global IP services that integrate the companys IP network with data centers and managed services.
Arcstar Global Network Business Division
NTT Com group has been providing global network service (Arcstar service) connecting with 52 countries. To be more responsive to the needs of our valued customers such as MNCs and to furnish the Arcstar service in a more unified manner, effective on April 1, 2001, NTT Com will set up the Arcstar Global Network Business Division by integrating and restructuring the current Global Business Division, International Network Services Department of Corporate Users Business Division and Arcstar related divisions of NTT Worldwide Telecommunications Corp.
NTT Coms global business activities such as partnering with Arcstar Partners
and global business development will be assumed by the Arcstar Global Network Business Division as well.
Data Center Business Division
The Data Center Business Division will integrate domestic and international data center services to meet increasing demand among corporate customers for IT and e-business solutions, focusing on collocation, hosting and value-added managed services. The division also will develop managed data center services that combine domestic and international networks.
e-Smart Trust Service Department
The e-Smart Trust Service Department, leveraging on the rapidly growing e-commerce market, will provide unified IP platform services that guarantee secure and reliable transactions for both consumers and businesses. The departments activities will focus mainly on authentication and settlement services using IC cards.
