FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NTT Communications to Expand Arcstar Service to Vietnam

NTT Worldwide Telecommunications Corporation (NTTWT), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), and Vietnam Datacommunication Company (VDC) today announced their conclusion of an Arcstar Service Agreement.

After the two companies formally sign the agreement, they will begin to offer Arcstar International Frame Relay Service between Vietnam and more than 50 countries and regions from March 2001.

In Vietnam, international leased line and packet communications services have been provided as part of a menu of international data communications services. VDC has been considering offering an international frame-relay service in order to meet customer demand for higher quality, lower cost services.

On the other hand, the NTT Com group, which has been looking to expand its operations in the Vietnamese market, made proposals to jointly commence international frame-relay service. The NTT Com group will be the first Japanese carrier to reach such an agreement with a Vietnamese carrier.

About 350 Japanese corporations as well as a few thousand multinational corporations are currently doing business in Vietnam. In addition, the Vietnam-US Trade Pact, which was concluded in July of this year, is expected to lead to Vietnam’s participation into the WTO in the near future. As the result of such events, the future economic development of Vietnam is greatly expected. The tie-up with VDC will allow the NTT Com group to establish a foothold in Vietnam.
