NTT Com to Improve OCN Services
-Number of Subscriber Networks for NTT Communications' OCN
Exceeds 1,000,000-

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) today announced that the number of subscriber networks to its Internet service, OCN Dial Access, surpassed 1,000,000 on February 9, 2000.

Thanks to strong support from users, it has taken only three years for the number of subscribers to top the one million mark. OCN Dial Access was launched in December 1996. The service has the largest number of new subscribers in the industry this fiscal year.

NTT Com has promoted the expansion of the Internet by constructing nationwide access points, diversifying services, lowering prices, and introducing "OCN PC Pack," which supplies a personal computer with the service. OCN PC Pack is ideally suited for Internet novices. The company will continue to serve its customers by providing them with secure and convenient services, as well as by creating the new Internet market.

To this end, NTT Com will take the following three actions:
1. No Initial Fee for OCN Dial Access
To help further expand the Internet market and remove hurdles for new entries, NTT Com will cancel initial fee for the OCN Dial Access service beginning this March 1.
2. Strengthen Network Services
NTT Com will actively strengthen network services, by adding a new plan to its Super OCN service, with a basic fee only 25% the amount of the normal Super OCN. Super OCN is a high-speed, high-quality IP network service.
3. Online Contest Mall Development
NTT Com will establish ÒToryumon,Ó an online contest mall by accepting contributions from users, such as digital photos and poems, and by collaborating with various enterprises. Toryumon will be developed using the technology of NTTÕs Cyber Communications Laboratories Group.

Through the aforementioned three actions, NTT Com will support the creation of an enjoyable lifestyle and new businesses. The firm expects the OCN subscriber networks to surpass 10,000,000 by the fiscal year 2003.

NTT Com will launch a special OCN sign-up campaign to commemorate its first 1,000,000 subscriber networks.

1. No Initial Fee for OCN Dial Access
NTT Com will waive its initial contract and set-up fees for those who start using OCN Dial Access beginning March 1.

At present, customers must pay the aforementioned fees before they can begin using OCN Dial Access. However, NTT Com has decided to waive them in response to the strong public demand for reduced Internet access costs.

In addition, a separate set-up fee* for OCN Dial Access, OCN Economy, and Business OCN will be waived as well.

*: Set up fee for allocation, addition and changes in OCN domain mail address, such as xxx@xxxx.ocn.ne.jp. An additional set-up fee for the provision of an original domain name will remain in effect.
