NTT Com Launching Web Site for Asia Multimedia Forum
AMF Multimedia Mall
|
NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) will launch a new Internet portal
on behalf of the Asia Multimedia Forum (AMF)* that will provide information on the products and services of AMF members, including NTT Com. The site, dubbed AMF Multimedia Mall (http://www.infogainer.com), will be launched from February 7, 2000. It will also list information on multimedia throughout Asia.
More and more information is being made available via the Internet as the medium continues to grow. Obtaining information on the multimedia and telecom industries, however, has been difficult due to regional language barriers. Also, searching for specific information has been time consuming owing to the Internets huge database. NTT Com has attempted to overcome such problems by creating a portal that specializes in both multimedia resources and Asia. Specifically, NTT Com will: 1) have AMF corporate members provide information on their goods and services in English, and 2) create a directory for multimedia-related information.
The site will serve two functions. A Service Information Directory will connect users to a wide range of multimedia services in the Asia region. A Multimedia Information Directory will provide links to related news and events in the multimedia field.
By using the Service Information Directory, for example, users will be able to quickly look for telecom services (i.e. telephone and Internet), as well as other multimedia services, such as data equipment and systems integration services in Asia. Related charges and instructions on how to order products and services can be searched as well. The directory will initially list the services of 20 telecom operators in 11 Asian countries and regions. Afterwards, the database will be expanded to include other types of AMF corporate members, such as hardware and software vendors and systems integration operators.
The Multimedia Information Directory will provide links to related regulatory bodies in Asia, IT-related groups, English yellow pages, and to multimedia-related news sites. Useful travel information also will be provided. This will include information on regional airports and the use of public phones. Moreover, information from related bodies and general users will be called for to enrich the directory.
The AMF web site is designed not only for those doing business in Asia, but also for people who are just interested in acquiring information on the multimedia field in Asia.
AMF members will jointly provide and develop contents for the AMF Multimedia Mall web site as well as cooperate on online web events. The members will also work together to develop services to appropriately fulfill user needs, thereby contributing to the promotion of multimedia in Asia.
Note:
