NTT Worldwide Telecommunications to Launch

| NTT Worldwide Telecommunications Corporation (NTT-WT), which is 100% owned subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation, will launch IP telephony clearinghouse named "NTT Communications Clearinghouse" from January 23 to serve the rapidly expanding Internet protocol (IP) telephony market. This is the first clearinghouse in Asia with its hub in Japan. The clearinghouse will function as an IP telephony routing and settlement service. NTT-WT will provide members such as IP telephony providers (i.e., Internet telephony service providers, Internet service providers, telecom carriers, etc.) and enterprise customers around the world with high-quality, competitively priced IP telephony routing with global coverage. Also, NTT-WT will handle all charge settlements between originating and terminating members. Members will connect to NTT-WT's routers and gateway devices via a leased circuit, frame relay, the Internet and so on. By joining NTT Communications Clearinghouse, IP telephony providers can promptly offer their services to more than 220 countries around the world without having to form contracts with other IP telephony providers in each country. For enterprise customers, NTT Communications Clearinghouse will realize IP telephony connections from the company's intranet to public telephone networks. This will expand the coverage area of IP telephony, which was previously limited to the company's intranet, as well as reduce the firm's international telephone costs. NTT Communications Clearinghouse selected U.S.-based Clarent and Cisco Systems for its IP telephony products.
