NTT Com Greets New Employees with Ceremony in Tokyo

NTT Communications (NTT Com) welcomed its new group of employees with a ceremony in Tokyo on April 1.

Like most Japanese corporations, NTT Com does the bulk of its hiring in spring, when Japanese university students graduate.

The ceremony, attended by 157 new recruits, began with a video presentation of the company.

President Masanobu Suzuki then took the podium and told the recruits that “a strong storm reveals the strong plants.” He encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunity to become resilient employees capable of growing with the company in the years to come.

The president also talked about NTT Com’s new corporate vision of becoming a “Global IP Solution Company” by reforming its corporate culture and retraining employees (see NTT Com Digest Vol. 5 No. 2).

Besides listening to greetings sent from overseas subsidiaries and business partners, the recruits watched a video in which employees talked about exciting new services and technology that the recruits may help to develop and implement in the future.

After filing nervously into the auditorium, the young recruits appeared to be genuinely inspired by the enthusiastic welcome.
