NTT Communications (NTT Com) organized the inaugural Arcstar Global Sales Workshop in Tokyo over a three-day period in late October, part of the company's ongoing commitment to becoming a "Global IP Company."
Employees from around the world learned how to plan for, manage and respond to customer needs. Participants came from Australia, China, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.S. and Vietnam, as well as Japan.
"People are the most important thing. If we have great teamwork, we can accomplish great sales," said Tetsuro Mikami, senior vice-president of the Arcstar Global Network Business Division.
Activities included sharing customer-related know-how and presenting case studies to examine how challenges have been overcome to win new business. Participants detailed market conditions, customer needs and information gained through customer feedback in respective countries. Personnel from sales and service development divisions gave details of how new services and service improvements would be implemented in the future.
The company is now studying the possibility of inviting actual customers to the 2003 workshop. Shuichi Ikeda, one of the workshop organizers, explained: "This year was a test to see how the workshop would work out. Next time, we want to invite customers and make it a real workshop. The aim would be to let customers get to know us better, improve brand loyalty and help maintain our 95% customer-retention rate." |
