NTT Com CEO Masanobu Suzuki announces
strategy at press conference

NTT Communications (NTT Com) held a press conference in Tokyo on March 17 to announce a new corporate strategy aimed at transforming the company from a “Global IP Company” to a “Global IP Solution Company.”
Under the new strategy, the company will target four areas as core business—solutions, network management, security and global services. NTT Com expects these core businesses to double the company's current revenue by the fiscal year beginning in April 2005.

Solutions
NTT Com will offer one-stop, total solutions for corporations, government bodies and individuals. Solutions for corporations and government bodies will support open IT systems and IP migration, as well as IT resource management. For individuals, NTT Com will offer service packages that combine voice, Internet, e-commerce and online content.

Network Management
NTT Com services will enable not only NTT Com networks, but also the increasingly diverse facilities and services of other carriers, to be managed on a one-stop, seamless, secure and highly simplified basis to realize a ubiquitous computing environment. Services will be enhanced by thoroughly standardizing internal IT-management processes in accordance with global practices.

Security
NTT Com will offer solutions that
provide customers with reliable protection from security risks. This will include developing network-safety services that incorporate authentication and IC-card security technologies. Also, NTT Com will establish an advisory panel of outside experts to help the company strengthen internal security management measures.

Global Services
NTT Com will provide seamless domestic and international services on a global scale, using its international Tier 1 backbone and global data centers. Also, the company will strengthen business in China and other Asian markets, where multinational companies are actively expanding their businesses.

During the conference, NTT Com also announced that it has tied up with global services leader EDS to offer information technology and communications services in Japan and other countries. The partners will collaborate on a range of services, including data center, co-location, hosting and communications, and provide packaged, seamless services tailored to individual corporate clients. EDS provides global services to the world’s leading companies and governments in 60 countries, including 11 in the Asian Pacific region. It had revenue of $21.5 billion in 2002.
