NTT Communications (Vietnam) Ltd. was established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT Communications (NTT Com) on December 25, 2001.
The company is located in the nation's commercial hub, Ho Chi Minh City, which has enjoyed sustained high growth for a decade. Something of an "Asian Paris," the city still retains the French architecture and other legacies of its former days as a French colony. Tourism from Japan and France has been strong in recent years.
The NTT Group has carried out a variety of business in Vietnam in the years since establishing a liaison office in metropolitan Hanoi in 1994. An example of this is the collaboration between NTT Vietnam Corporation, now an affiliate of NTT East Japan, and Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT) for basic network construction in the suburbs of Hanoi.
The original NTT representative office was replaced by NTT Com's Hanoi representative office in 1999. The following year NTT Com concluded a service agreement to launch frame relay interconnection services for Vietnam Datacommunications Company (VDC), a data-communications affiliate of VNPT, in March 2001. NTT Com is one of three carriers in the world to have frame relay connections with Vietnam and is the only Japanese one.
Japanese investment in Vietnam has accelerated in recent years. Reflecting this trend, NTT Com decided to move its local office from the political center, Hanoi, to the commercial center, Ho Chi Minh City and begin focusing more on sales and customer service.
Operating currently with a staff of five, including three Japanese expatriates, NTT Communications (Vietnam) is engaged in network integration via frame relay and international leased line, LAN/WAN system integration and maintenance, and telecom-related general consultation. The company aims to strengthen sales of Arcstar services to locally based multinationals from neighboring Asian countries including Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. |
