e-Transit

| e-Transit is a web-based service that enables commercial operators to manage their vehicle fleets with real-time information about vehicle locations, estimated arrival times, traffic conditions and more. One of e-Transit's attractions is its low cost. Its ASP nature also means no investment in central system facilities is necessary, making an easy-to-use, reasonably priced service. e-Transit uses global positioning to track vehicles. Information is relayed to a control center via mobile phone packet transmission (NTT DoCoMo's "DoPa" data, for example). Besides viewing a vehicle's position via the online map, the user can also access and download information about its movements over the past two months, with a maximum one-time download of 24 hours'-worth of movements. The system uses stored driving records to determine estimated times between arbitrary points. It can also inform the user of the vehicle nearest to a given point. |
