OBP Fundamentals

A company needs to have firm principles to conduct business in a sustainable way and contribute to society; in every function from the frontline to management we must ensure that the principles are followed.

“Our Business Principle” (OBP) expresses the philosophies that each of us as a member of the NTT Communications Group and as a global businessperson needs to understand and share.

What do we mean by “Mission”?
A mission is the fundamental purpose for a company’s existence; it defines how we serve our customers and society. All the efforts we make must be aimed at the fulfillment of our Mission.

What are Guiding Principles?
Our Guiding Principles are the values that regulate the actions taken to fulfill our Mission. Our six Guiding Principles tell us what is important for us as well as how we should act as members of the NTT Communications Group.

Guidelines and Systems to Support OBP
Our Basic CSR Policy
Our Basic CSR Policy specifies three focus areas and demonstrates how we bear our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Compliance/Human Rights/Security
In order to put the principles into practice at all organizational levels, we take various initiatives for critical issues such as compliance with laws and establishment of corporate ethics, building of human rights awareness, and information security, which is a top priority as an information and communications service provider.

An Important Perspective: “Stakeholders”

We define “stakeholders” as all the entities that have relations of any kind with the NTT Communications Group. The term includes not only our customers, business partners and shareholders, but also competitors that our business activities influence, society as a whole and individual employees. Understanding the perspective and earning the trust of our stakeholders are essential to enabling the Group to continue to profit and grow. We shall always be aware of our ties with various stakeholders as we bridge their present and future potential.
