Efforts of NTT Com
NTT Com started providing IPv6 Internet access service. In addition, to promote the reliable usage of IPv6, NTT Com is active in developing IPv6 solutions, standardization, generalization and education activities.
IPv6 network service
In 2001 as the leader in this field, NTT Com started providing full-scale operations of the IPv6 Internet access service. In 2003, NTT Com completed to implement IPv6/IPv4 dual-stack technology on the backbone of national and international networks, that elevates IPv6 network quality to IPv4 levels. Today, our IPv6 network service is available for enterprises, service providers, laboratories and home users.
IPv6 solutions
Realization of comprehensive IPv6 solutions including network, machines/end devices, and applications is necessary for optimum use of IPv6 features. NTT Com has been developing m2m-x technology which enables safe and secure Machine-to-Machine(M2M) communications and "IPv6 Reliable Multicast" technology which enables contents casting without loss of data through IPv6 multicast, and providing various kinds of solutions using the advantages of IPv6 feature.
Standardization , generalization and educational activities
As a company promoting the use of IPv6, NTT Com has been playing an important role in various IPv6-related projects nationwide and overseas, and has been proactively introducing the obtained technology and expertise into our services one by one. Furthermore, NTT Com has been making efforts to establish an environment in which IPv6 can be used reliably, realize the system for homes and companies to easily introduce IPv6, and provide hearty support to IPv6 users with the activities of Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the IPv6 Promotion Council.

Global IPv6 Backbone
NTT Com was among the first to provide global IPv6 service for commercial use. NTT Communications' global IP network, which is one of the world's leading Global Tier 1 networks, offers IPv6/IPv4 full dual-stack service to all network bases. To secure stable interconnectivity with the global IPv6 network, NTT Com always connects IPv6 Internet eXchange Points (IX) in Japan, North America, and Europe, which realize high quality IPv6 Internet connectivity 24 hours a day, every day.
IPv6 Service Provided by NTT Communications
We provide the following IPv6 services for commercial use: IPv6 Native Service which enables direct connectivity to the backbone through IPv6 native access (starting April 2001); IPv6/IPv4 Dual Service which provides IPv6/IPv4 dual access to the backbone with one access line (starting April 2004); OCN IPv6 Tunneling Service which enables connectivity to the backbone through OCN IPv4 service using the IPv6 over IPv4 technology (starting June 2001); the dual-stack type for the industry's highest business use Super OCN IPv6 Dual Ehernet Access which directly connects to the backbone and ensures high quality and reliability (starting February 2005); OCN Housing Connectivity Service IPv6 Dual (starting February 2005); and OCN IPv6 which is an easy and inexpensive service for individual customers (starting December 2005).
On top of that, NTT Com promotes provision of IPv6 service not only for Internet access lines but also VPN service and application service. For example, Earthquake Early Warning Service using IPv6 multicast delivery (starting July 2007) is commercial service for business use. Arcstar IP-VPN, which has many business users, also provides IPv6 Dual Service (starting March 2009). For individual customers, NTT Com offers a variety of services such as OCN Earthquake Early Warning (starting October 2007).
