The Digital Leased Circuit (HSD) service is a digital leased line service using highly reliable STM (Synchronous Transfer Mode), which has functions for 24-hour outage monitoring for each line and instantaneous line switching (network section). It is optimal for not only WAN backbone connections, but also for use as network infrastructure between key locations that would be critically affected by a system outage. We provide strong support for secure and reliable operation of enterprise networks ranging from SCM to e-commerce.

Provision of high-speed, high-quality digital communication

The service can be used to deploy economical systems integrating networks that have conventionally been configured by application using analog leased lines. We offer 12 services with line speeds ranging from 64kbps to 6Mbps. Using high-speed, high-capacity digital communication, it is possible to deploy optimal networks suited to customers’ uses, such as internal calls, connections between LANs and videoconferencing systems.

Ensuring high reliability

In addition to high-quality digital transmission paths, high reliability is ensured using monitoring functions for each line, automatic switching functions during outages through redundancy of relay sections, and 24-hour/365-day repair and recovery. We provide a high-grade service perfect for enterprise backbone lines performing vast data communication.

Greatly reduced running costs through fixed-rate pricing

The service utilizes a fixed-rate pricing model in which monthly communication charges are fixed regardless of the time used and the volume of data sent. The cost per unit of time becomes lower the more a line is used, with no concerns about additional charges due to traffic fluctuations or increased usage time.

Solid network security

As it is a closed network in which the customer has sole possession of equipment, there are no concerns about information leaks due to hacking, etc. It is possible to reduce equipment implementation costs and movements because security measures such as firewalls and encryption are generally not necessary.

Reduced effort for line maintenance and operation on the customer side

Customers’ equipment such as servers are installed within NTT Communications' building*. This can be used as a "colocation service" directly linking our backbone with customers' equipment. NTT Communications is responsible for line maintenance and operation.
*Limited to buildings specified by NTT Communications for providing colocation services.

Proof of high reliability and use of two SLAs

Our SLAs (Service Level Agreements) apply to deadlines for installing lines and the time required for recovery from failure. We will return the specified fee if we are unable to maintain the guaranteed service level.

Optional services to meet the needs of users

• Multiple access services

This is a service in which multiple lines in the same facility can be multiplexed for a single user on a single network interface using one DSU. Initial costs and running costs can both be reduced, while also saving space.

• Line switching services

Automatic redundancy in terminal sections using multipoint circuits in order to improve reliability in terminal sections. Even in the unlikely event that an outage occurs in a terminal section, an automatic switch is made to a multipoint line (backup line).

The monthly fee for Digital Leased Circuit (HSD) is made up of the 4 elements below:

• In-house wiring fee
• Reductions when using multiple access services
  The DSU and in-house wiring fees are not required if they are purchased or provided by the customer.
