NTT Com Receives Red Hat Cloud Leadership Award

TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that the company’s cloud-based virtual hosting service, Biz Hosting Basic, has received the Red Hat Cloud Leadership Award from Red Hat Inc. NTT Com is the first company in the Asia-Pacific region to receive the award.

Biz Hosting Basic received high marks as a unique cloud computing service that combines robust, decentralized data centers and high-quality network services. The judging panel lauded Biz Hosting Basic’s capability to address Japan’s electricity shortage with its cloud-based unified solutions, such as Biz Desktop Pro, a high-performance virtual desktop service for teleworking, and quick recovery for business continuity. They noted that immediately after the March 11 earthquake, NTT Com quickly offered the service on a free basis to support the relief efforts of various organizations.

Biz Hosting Basic utilizes an open-source, kernel-based virtual machine (KVM) technology for virtualization to offer high-level functionality, security, scalability and cost performance. It is part of NTT Com’s BizCITY services, which also includes Biz Desktop Pro. NTT Com is working to further enhance this suite of cloud-based services.

Red Hat began offering its quarterly Red Hat Cloud Leadership Award this year to honor companies and providers that demonstrate excellent leadership and innovation in the cloud computing field.
