NTT Communications Group Releases 2009 CSR Report

TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced today the release of its annual report on corporate social responsibility (CSR) covering activities carried out by the NTT Communications Group in fiscal 2008.

The NTT Communications Group CSR Report 2009 explains how the group implemented its CSR Basic Policy as an ICT solution partner providing telecommunications services that create new capabilities to build a more prosperous and sustainable society. Information in the report, which is presented from the viewpoints of both the group and its stakeholders, covers three main categories: contributing to society, global environmental protection and respect for employees.

The report follows the guidelines issued in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a non-profit organization certified by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Under a new environmentally friendly approach adopted by NTT Com this year, the 584 kilowatts of electric power consumed in printing and binding the report were sourced with Tradable Renewable Certificates.

The printed version of the report is based on universal design standards to ensure the use of colors and designs that are easily recognized by the widest possible range of people, including those with color-vision disabilities. The printing process used environmentally friendly ink on recyclable paper.

The printed version, which summarizes content to minimize paper consumption, explains NTT Communications Group’s CSR policies and primary activities covering themes deemed most important to stakeholders. The fuller online version provides more detailed content about the Group’s environmental activities and performance.

The Japanese version of the report was made available online (www.ntt.com/csr) today, and the print version will be issued on October 6. The English version, both print and online (www.ntt.com/csr_e) versions, will be issued in late November.

The report is available for download as a PDF file, while printed copies can be requested at www.ntt.com/csr_e or Contact Form.
